Dr. Denise O’Neil Green

Dr. Denise O’Neil Green is Ryerson’s inaugural Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion and Associate Professor in the School of Child and Youth Care in the Faculty of Community Services. With over 30 years of experience in the postsecondary sector in Canada and the United States, Dr. Green is a strategic leader, who has advanced systemic change in the areas of human rights, anti-racism, student access, equity, diversity and inclusion. Under her leadership, Ryerson has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for five consecutive years from 2014 to 2019.  She brought the  White Privilege Conference (WPC) Global to Toronto in 2018, making it the first university to bring the full conference outside of the United States. Dr. Green also convened the first University and Research Funding Agencies’ Equity Officers Roundtable in 2018. A sought-after keynote speaker, lecturer and mentor, Dr. Green is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2017 Association for the Study of Higher Education Council on Ethnic Participation and the 2016 Pioneers for Change Award. She has authored many publications on diversity-related topics and is Executive Editor for InstitutionalDiversityBlog.com. Dr. Green holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago, Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University and a PhD from the University of Michigan.
