Prof. Hannes Rothe
Professor Hannes Rothe (he/him/his) is a dad of two, a professor for “Information Systems and Sustainable Supply Chain Management” at University of Duisburg-Essen, and head of the Co-Creation Lab: Place Beyond Bytes. In addition, he co-founded the Digital Entrepreneurship Hub at Freie Universität Berlin.
Before, he has held positions as an associate professor for “Digital Transformation and Information Systems” at ICN Business School (Nancy, Paris, Berlin) and as assistant professor position for “Educational Service Engineering and IT Entrepreneurship” at Freie Universität Berlin. He has earned his doctoral degree at Freie Universität Berlin in 2015, where he was responsible for coordinating entrepreneurship education between 2013 and 2021. He has been a visiting researcher at University of Cambridge (UK) and TU Graz (Austria).
Hannes’ research has been published in leading journals of management and information systems, including Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Strategic Management Journal, Information Systems Journal, and Communications of the Association for Information Systems. He was winner and runner-up for multiple paper awards, including the Claudio Ciborra Award for the most innovative paper in 2019. Complementary to his research, he has always been interested in supporting entrepreneurs in deep tech and science, and has been involved in mentorship with numerous spin-offs and ventures.
