Chantal Pharand
Chantal Pharand is a researcher and clinical pharmacist specializing in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal and has been a professor for over 25 years and Associate Vice-President for Student Affairs and Success for 7 years at the Université de Montréal.
Over the years, as Vice-Dean academic affairs, Dr. Pharand has been
very actively involved in the coordination, development and implementation of various programs at the Faculty of Pharmacy, including the Pharm.D. program, the Pharmacy Qualification Program for foreign pharmacists wishing to obtain a license to practice pharmacy in Quebec, and the Pharm.D. bridging program to enable practicing pharmacists with a bachelors’ degree from Quebec to to obtain a Pharm.D. degree.
As Associate Vice-President Student Affairs and Success, she is responsible for overseeing Student Services, Admission and Recruitment Services, as well as the Sport Center. As such, she
is actively working on improving the academic success of students through different initiatives and overseeing the deployment of services to prevent and support students with mental health
issues. Most recently, with the Covid pandemic, Dr. Pharand has been an integral member of the Covid coordination committee of the Université de Montréal, which was responsible, among
other aspects, for: a) ensuring that government directives surrounding the COVID pandemic were applied; b) supporting the university community in the development of a safe work plan
in terms of COVID in the context of research, teaching and work activities; c) coordinating the implementation of business continuity and recovery strategies.
